MMM Integrated Rehabilitation Centre For Addicts (MMM IRCA)

The centre was established in the year 1994 with financial support from the Union Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India.  The centre started functioning on 1st February 1994 and was officially inaugurated by then Hon’ble Minister of State for Welfare, Govt. of India, Sri. K V Thangka Balu on 10th April 1994.  The centre has extended services to more than eight thousand people with alcohol and other substance abuse problems.  The centre provides free comprehensive care which includes detoxification and psychosocial management such as yoga therapy, individual and family counselling, group therapy, spiritual therapy and treatment for medical and psychiatric co-morbidities.  In addition to the inpatient services, the centre provides outpatient services and conducts regular follow up of clients through phone calls and home visits.  Dr. V.M.D. Namboodiri, who had been instrumental in establishing the centre and was the first Project Director from 1994 to 2005. Dr. Joseph Varghese P, who took the initiative to start the centre, was the Project Director from 2005 to 2014.  Mr. Francis M.R, who has been working in the centre from 1994 as counsellor, is the Project Director from 2014.
