Anaesthesiologists are physicians trained in anaesthesia and perioperative medicine or better known as “perioperative physicians”. They are specialist doctors involved in preoperative evaluation and optimization of patients,  ensuring intraoperative life support and perioperative pain and fluid management and ensuring quality recovery. In addition,  they are actively involved in patient care in intensive care units and emergency airway and venous access,  particularly in trauma and extremely sick patients in Emergency department. Our department has been providing successful painless labour services in the form of epidural analgesia since 1994 on a regular basis. Management of acute and chronic pain is also undertaken through pain and palliative care unit.

Post graduate training in Anaesthesiology started in 2011.
