Comprehensive care for the urinary stone disease
Stone disease is a very common problem all over the world. Approximately 60% of stones can be managed by lithotripsy and rest of stones needs various endo urological procedures to remove the stones without open surgery.
Lithotripsy (Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy) (ESWL)
ESWL is a method of treating kidney and upper ureteric stones without surgery. We have the most modern third generation lithotripter - Dornier compact -S, with the highest patient safety profile. X-ray control is available over this machine. The delivery of shock waves is controlled by an advanced computerized system with safety cut -offs to optimize the delivery of shockwaves to the patient. Patient does not need any hospital stay and can go home on the same day.
PCNL (Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy) (PCNL)
PCNL is done for renal stones. Here a 1cm hole is made in the kidney to and the stone is broken into smaller pieces and removed. There is minimal pain and discomfort and the patient can go home in 48 - 72 hrs. Even bigger stones like stag horn calculus can be safely managed with this modality.
Ureteroscopic basketting and fragmentation of ureteric calculi, URS (ureterorenoscopy) is being done in our hospital for middle and lower ureteric stones. Cystoscopy and lithotrity remains the main stay of treatment for vesical calculus.
Endourology :
All types of Endourology (Surgery through a telescope, which does not require open procedures) including treatment of prostate TURP (Trans Urethral Resection of Prostate), BNI (Bladder Neck Incision) for prostatic hyperplasia with bladder outflow obstruction, TURBT (Trans Urethral Resection of Bladder Tumour) for bladder
cancers, urethral strictures, kidney and ureteric stones (PCNL &URS) are available. Intracorporeal lithotripsy (breaking of stones using endoscopes) is also available.
Impotence:
A problem affecting over 10% of adult population can be fully investigated and treated. MOSC Medical College provides specialized facilities for pharmacotherapy in addition to Doppler studies for assessment of pencil blood flow.
Infertility:
MOSC Medical College offers a complete range of facilities for investigation and treatment of male infertility. Varicocele ligation, TURED (Trans Urethral Resection of Ejaculating Duct) are done routinely in our hospital.
Urological Cancers:
The department offers comprehensive evaluation and treatment if all urological cancers with the help of various diagnostic tools like 64 slice CT scan, MRI. TURBT (Trans urethral resection of bladder tumour), radical cystectomy with continent urinary diversion procedures for urinary bladder tumours, radical nephrectomy for renal tumours are done routinely.
Female Urology:
We have good experience in TVT (Tension free Vaginal tape) procedure for treatment of stress urinary incontinence. Other causes of urinary incontinence and other urinary problems like urgency are being investigated and treated.
Paediatric urology:
Children suffer from various urological problems which needs investigations. Posterior urethral valve, Vesicoureteric reflux are being corrected successfully by our department.
Reconstructive Urology:
Many reconstructive urological surgeries like pyeloplasty, urethral stricture surgery, hypospadias surgery and other congenital disorder are undertaken routinely.

Other surgeries like detorsion and orchiopexy (for torsion testis), circumcision, orchidectomy (in carcinoma prostate), urethral dilatation are done routinely.
Diagnostic Procedures:
Diagnostic procedures like cystoscopy, IVP (Intra Venous Pyelogram), CT - Urogram, MCU (Micturating Cysto Urethrogram), DRU (Dynamic Retrograde Urethrogram), retrograde cystogram are routinely carried out in this hospital.
Emergency Services:
Round the clock emergency services are available in the urologic department with the help of service minded doctors and nurses. Emergency cases like renal trauma, bladder rupture, urethral injury are managed routinely. We also carry out Areterio - venous fistula construction for chronic renal failure patients on maintance hemodialysis on routine basis.
