Over 450 laparoscopic surgeries have been successfully completed in children ever since it was started on a routine basis in August 1994. Appendectomy, cholecystectomy, orchidopexy etc. are being routinely done only as laparoscopic procedures. This department continues to be one of the few centres in Kerala doing laparoscopic surgeries in children.
This department also does pneumatic reduction of intussusception using the C-Arm Image Intensifier, a non invasive method of managing these babies conservatively. So far 175 cases has been successfully managed.
Paediatric surgery speciality caters to all common neonatal and paediatric surgical problems ,except cardiac anomalies.all types of neonatal and paediatric surgical procedures ,both elective and emergencies are being done on regular basis.
Endoscopic procedures like laprroscopy,thoracoscopy,oesophagoscopy,cystourethroscopy and bronchoscopy are being done routinely.Non operative management of inussusception in the form of hydrostatic reduction with saline enema is being done regularly.
The department is conducting OP clinic on all working days and provides round the clock emergency services.
