Paediatrics

The department of Paediatrics was started on September 14, 1970 with the founder Director Dr. K.C.Mammen as head of the department. It became one of the prestigious departments of Medical Mission Hospital under the able guidance of Dr. K.C. Mammen and Dr. Alexander Joseph.

Ours is the main referral centre for the nearby districts - Idukki, Kottayam and Trichur with daily outpatients of more than 200 and inpatients of more than 100. We started level three neonatal care and ventilating the babies who needs respiratory support for the last 5 years. Ours is one among the few hospitals in Kerala having this facility and our results are well comparable with the major neonatal centres in India. Procedures like exchange transfusions, mechanical ventilation with A.B.G. monitoring are routinely done.
