The department of Obsterics and Gynaecology started in the MOSC Medical Mission Hospital, Kolencherry for 1970. It became under the MOSC Medical College Kolencherry for 2002.

This department is the level III referred centre for peripheral hospitals at Moovattupuzha, Perumbavoor, Kothamangalam and Idukki. Our patient services are available on every day morning and evening excect on Sundays and hospital holidays. Out patients are seen by consultants including the head of the department. Speciality clinics like infertility clinic and family welfare clinic are also conducted. The family welfare clinic run in co-ordination with community Medicine Department. We were conducting VANDEMADARAM programme at KUMARAPURAM HEALTH CENTRE.
Our labour room has all the modern facilities like electronic foetal monitory and painless labour. We have a fully equipped 'Labour Suit' where husband or any other close relatives is allowed along with the patient in labour. Round the clock service under the supervision of a serious consultation is available close to the labour room. Apart from routine major and minor gynaccology surgeries, facilities are available for Laproscopic and Hysteroscopic surgeries, Reconstructive surgeries and Cancer surgeries.
We give training for under graduate(MBBS) and Postgraduate(DNB) Home Surgeons.
