In the early 1960s when the entire world was enticed by the resonant " I have a dream " oration of Martin Luther King Jr., a small group of dedicated and enterprising rural folk in kolenchery along with the progressive leaders of the church, laid the foundation stone in the year 1967. The dreams of our great founders were materialized in the form of a society with the objective to engage in activities, which will result in the development and upliftment of the rural areas and facilities in Kolenchery. Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church Medical Mission hospital was established in the year 1970.
